Glee returned this week with what is being heralded as the best episode yet.  The episode appropriately titled “Yes/ No” gave us two proposals, another character who got married before this episode, and an interesting look into the inner thoughts of a well-loved character with the voice of Helen Mirren.  Spoilers ahead after the jump. Pop Culture Week in Review 5/22-5/27/2011

Well I thought I would try something different.  This week has been great for both me and pop culture.  So many things have happened this week that it’s necessary to do a week in review article.

First off,  Sunday was the Billboard Music Awards here in Las Vegas, and I was down there at the white carpet taking pictures.  I have to say even though I wish I could have been there inside the MGM Grande Arena to watch the show, seeing some the best performances on television was the next best thing.

How amazing was Beyonce?  This woman is unstoppable force.

Rihanna and Britney Spears’ performance was unbelievable.  The thing that I loved most about this performance was that the general public knew that Rihanna would be performing but the producers kept it a secret that Britney was going to perform.  Here in Vegas we found out that this was the case the day before when a pic of Britney onstage with Rihanna during rehearsals was leaked.

Before I saw this performance, I never cared to even check into Nicki Minaj’s music but after seeing her on the white carpet and seeing this performance made me at least have an appreciation for her as artist and a fan of her song “Super Bass”.

She is freaky to watch but I want to see what her facial expressions are going to be throughout the video.

On Monday, Lady Gaga’s second album was released.  You can read my review here.  Also released on Monday was Glee, The Music Vol. 6 with the original songs from the season finale, “Pretending” and “Light Up The World”.

These songs were even better than the songs they did for Regionals.

On Wednesday, Oprah Winfrey ended her 25 year run of The Oprah Winfrey Show.  Mind you I am not a big fan of Oprah.  I do not dislike her but I was never really into her show.  Needless to say that she has had a huge impact on pop culture.  Jimmy Kimmel did a hilarious take on her farewell to her fans.

Finally today after two weeks in a coma, Jeff Conaway best known for both his role as Kenickie in “Grease” and from the television “Taxi” died today.  Conaway, who was 60, was put into a medically induced coma after a case of pneumonia and too many prescribed drugs.   He was taken off of life support yesterday.

Panic! at the Disco’s New Single- “Ready to Go”

I have been a fan of Panic! at the Disco ever since their first album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, was first released, and now with their newest album, Vices & Virtues, I have to say that P!ATD are even better than ever.  Their newest single, “Ready to Go (Get Me Out of My Mind)” was released as a music video on You Tube just last week.  Of all the songs on their latest album, “Ready to Go” is one of my favorites.  Back last month when I was getting ready to move to Las Vegas, this was my theme.  The video for “Ready to Go” pays homage to some of the greatest movies of all time: Grease, Mary Poppins, and Singing in the Rain.  What is your take on this new video?
