Billboard Music Awards Flashback: BBMA 2012 Pics

20140518-194215.jpg Two years ago, I was lucky to experience being a member of the press inside the BBMA 2012 press room. It was an amazing experience that I sticks with me to this day and I knew then like I know now that it will not be the last time that I get the opportunity to cover the Billboard Music Awards. Above are pictures of Natasha Bedingfield, Patent Pending, Gavin Degraw, Carly Rae Jepsen, LMFAO, Eric Benet and Stevie Wonder. These are just a few of the pictures that I took over that weekend of BBMA festivities.

2012: A Year in Photos Part 2: Billboard Music Awards

The Billboard Music Awards is the focus of part 2 of my 2012 picture retrospect.  This whole experience has been a turning point for me in terms that it made me more sure than ever that I was pursuing the right path in my professional life.  Attending the press room of the Billboard Music Awards 2012 set the foundation for my strong interest in becoming a photojournalist.

Pictures from the Billboard Music Awards 2012 Press Room

Here are the pics that I took yesterday in the BBMA press room.  Unfortunately, not all of the celebrities came back to the press room.  I know there are a lot that were hoping I would get a picture of Justin Bieber but he was one of the celebs that did grace us (the press) with his presence.   The celebrities that I did get pictures of, in the order the pictures are, are Wiz Khalifa, Robin Thicke, Far East Movement, Jason Derulo, Carly Rae Jepsen, LMAFO, Eric Benet, and Stevie Wonder.

LMFAO “Sorry for Party Rocking” Music Video

Skyblu and Redfoo, the duo known as LMFAO, are at it again.  In the video for “Sorry for Party Rocking”, LMFAO has a house party that has two guys dressed as rock em sock em robots in the yard, and like “Sexy and I Know It”, this video has a few vintage celebrity cameos like David Hasselhoff and Christopher Reid (Kid of Kid ‘n Play).  The video takes place before “Party Rock Anthem” because at the end Skyblu and Redfoo end up at the hospital from the beginning of “Party Rock Anthem”.   The video was released yesterday on YouTube and it is already at over a million views.

Music Videos You Should See 2/21/12

Welcome to another edition of Music Videos You Should See.  In this article, it is all about electronic music.  Let’s go ahead and dive in.

First up, we Avicii “Levels”.  This song was sampled in Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling”.  The concept for the video is a dancing virus that first infects a typical office worker and he passes it along to some orderlies and a nurse.  Very zombie style.

The next video is from LMFAO, the band that brought us “Party Rock Anthem”.  This time around their anthem is “Sexy and I Know It”.  This video has numerous celebs making cameos: Ron Jeremy, Simon Rex, and Wilmer Valderrama (Fez on That 70s Show).  This song has been used on Glee and several commericals including the M & M’s Super Bowl commercial.

Finally we have the electronic music performance from the Grammys this year.  Packed into seven minutes is David Guetta, Skrillex, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Foo Fighters and deadmau5.

Madonna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

Madonna’s Super Bowl debut was a success or a failure depending on who you asked.  Some people said over Twitter that it was the worst thing they ever saw, while others, like myself, thought it was a crowning moment for the pop star.  One thing is for certain: aside from the Super Bowl, Madonna’s halftime show was widely talked about on Twitter last night.

Madonna was brought out to the stage on a chariot pulled by a large group of men dressed like Roman soldiers.  Madonna was performing “Vogue” when she reached the stage.  At one point of singing her medley of songs, Madonna almost fell but being the true artist that she is, she went right on with her performance.

The former Material Girl pulled out all the stops in her halftime show from performing some of her best known songs to having other artists like LMFAO and Cee-lo Green perform with her.  The thing that has caused a whirlwind of controversy was during the performance of Madonna’s new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin'”.  At the point that fellow collaborating artist, M.I.A. performed, the rapper had a “finger malfunction” at the end of her rap along with a minor explicative.  The censors tried to prevent the incident but where seconds late.
