I’ll admit it, when Taylor Swift first came on the music scene back in 2006, I did not care for her. I honestly thought she was s bit annoying. My annoyance increased when Taylor performed with music legend, Stevie Nicks at the 2010 Grammys and botched up “Rhiannon.” It wasn’t until I moved to Las Vegas in April 2011 that my opinion of Taylor started to change. On May 22, 2011, I went to the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip to see the white (red) carpet arrivals for the 2011 Billboard Music Awards. That day I saw more celebrities in one day in Las Vegas than I had ever seen in my thirty-three years living near the east coast. One of the celebrities that took the time to greet the fans was Taylor Swift. The one thing I noticed about Taylor during this first time seeing her in person was that she was very gracious and generous with her fans. Taylor stayed signing autographs and taking pictures with her fans for good amount time.
The next time I would see Taylor was at MGM Grand again on April 2, 2012 for the Academy of Country Music Awards. This time I took some amazing pictures of her.
Taking these pictures of Taylor Swift was an amazing experience and to this day remain to be some of my favorite celebrity pictures that I have taken. The biggest reason for this is that I captured Taylor interacting with her fans and not posing for the press. At one point, I used one of these pictures to make a project for my Tumblr photo blog, Celebrities’ Innermost Thoughts.
Hello everyone who reads this blog. Sorry I have not been posting but things came up where I was not able to blog. The reason for this entry is to tell you about a contest I entered. I entered a picture of Taylor Swift that I took at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards in the Photograph Kimbra Contest at Talenthouse. There are two ways to win: 1. Kimbra will select one winner for each venue of her tour and 2. the most votes will also get to photograph Kimbra at the venue of their choice. I really could use the support of my readers and hope you will vote for me. To vote just click on the picture above and it will take you to site to vote for my picture. Thank you in advance.
Inspired by the Texts From Hillary craze, I decided yesterday to embark on a new project. This project is called Celebrities’ Innermost Thoughts. The concept behind this is to take a picture of a celebrity and put a caption on that photo as to what they are thinking. The site is on Tumblr. Right now I have put up four pictures and one of those pictures was of Taylor Swift that I took at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
This morning I wake up and I find out that Taylor Swift herself reblogged this picture on her Tumblr page.
I am just in awe over this!! Here’s one more example of Celebrities” Innermost Thoughts:
Go over to the page and if you have an idea for a Celebs’ Innermost Thought, submit it. Just make sure you credit where the photo is from.
Since I have started photographing celebrities beginning last year with the Billboard Music Awards, I have developed a group of celebrities that I love to photograph. Among that list is Taylor Swift. Although I didn’t get a good selection of pics of her at the Billboard Music Awards, I managed to get some exceptional photos of Taylor at the Academy of Country Music Awards. The biggest reason I find Taylor such a great subject is that she radiates an aura of beauty combined with the innocence of her age. You can tell from her pictures that she is gracious and she is always at her best when she is interacting with her fans.
Yesterday when I went to the red carpet for the Academy of Country Music Awards to take pictures, for around two hours, I was standing next to a Taylor Swift stalker. No lie. The guy was Asian in his 40s or 50s. He had three bags of wrapped gifts for Taylor Swift and a picture of Taylor Swift with a younger version of himself photoshopped in it. That alone wouldn’t have made him a stalker more of a fan out of touch with reality. It wasn’t until later in the day that he did and said that made out to be a crazy stalker. First off, he told the event security that he talked to Taylor Swift everyday through e-mail and that Taylor wanted to meet him there at the ACM Awards Red Carpet. The security agents weren’t having this so they told him he needed to be behind the barricade. The guy wasn’t exactly cooperating so event security were calling the Las Vegas Police in on this and someone mentioned about the stalker going to jail. The stalker heard this and said, “I’ll kill Taylor Swift before I go to jail.” or something like that. I took a short video of the police confronting the stalker and you can see at the :41 second mark.
The police did not arrest the stalker but they told him he had to leave the area. Even though the guy never showed his face again, all of us that had witnessed this guy were keeping a lookout to see if he was going to come back.
Before I go into my thoughts about last night’s Grammys, I wanted to make a major criticism to CBS and the Grammy Association itself. Those of us who are music and pop culture bloggers on the west coast had to wait three hours behind the east coast to see the telecast of the Grammys. It made it very difficult to tweet or blog about who was performing or who won what when the east coast knew three hours before we did. It’s not like it couldn’t be shown at the same time as the east coast. I have seen it done with other award shows. Now that I got that complaint off my chest on to the show itself:
On Sunday, February 12, the yearly tradition of the awards show known as the Grammys will take place. This year’s set of nominees have set the music world on fire with some memorable songs. Here are my predictions for the 2012 Grammys:
